Terms of use
Last updated:
These terms apply when you use the Little Plate app or this website. They're written to be read, not skimmed past — the short version: be 18 or over, use the app for your own family, manage your subscription through the App Store, and remember that Little Plate offers guidance, not medical advice.
1. Agreeing to these terms
By creating an account or using Little Plate you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
2. Who can use Little Plate
You must be at least 18 years old and a parent or carer of the children whose meals you log. The app is designed for adults; children should not use it themselves.
3. Little Plate is not medical advice
- For any concern about your child's health, growth, weight, allergies or development, speak to your GP, health visitor or a registered dietitian.
- AI-generated estimates and answers can be wrong. Portion estimates are approximations; always apply your own judgement, especially around allergens.
- Never rely on the app to determine whether a food is safe for your child.
4. Your account
You sign in with a one-time email code. Keep access to your email account secure — anyone who can read your email can sign in as you. You're responsible for activity on your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Account.
5. Subscriptions and the free tier
- Free tier. Manual logging, the dashboard, child profiles and nursery handover logging are free. AI photo analysis is limited to a small number of free uses.
- Little Plate Pro is an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly) that unlocks unlimited AI photo analysis, unlimited nursery sheet reading and the Ask feature.
- Free trial. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. If you cancel before the trial ends, you pay nothing.
- Billing. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at the price shown in the App Store at purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Cancelling. Manage or cancel in your device settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancelling keeps Pro active until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under their terms — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- Changes. If we change Pro pricing or what's included, the change applies from your next renewal and Apple will notify you as their rules require.
6. Acceptable use
Don't:
- use the app for anyone else's children without their parent or guardian's permission;
- upload content that is unlawful or that infringes someone else's rights — including photos of identifiable people who haven't agreed;
- attempt to probe, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the app or its services;
- use the AI features to generate content unrelated to feeding your child, or attempt to bypass usage limits.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
7. Your content
Everything you log belongs to you. You give us only the limited licence we need to store and process it to run the app for you — nothing more. We don't use your content for advertising and we don't train AI models on it.
8. Our intellectual property
The Little Plate name, logo, app, website and content (other than yours) are owned by us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's standard licence terms.
9. Availability and changes
We work to keep Little Plate available and improving, but we can't promise uninterrupted service. We may add, change or retire features. If we ever discontinue the app entirely, we'll give you reasonable notice so you can export what you need.
10. Our liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability we can't exclude by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence. Otherwise, the app is provided "as is": we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. As a consumer you keep all your statutory rights.
11. Apple's role
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app and isn't responsible for any claims relating to it. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you.
12. Ending things
You can stop using Little Plate and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms; where reasonable, we'll warn you first.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes belong to the courts of England and Wales — though if you live elsewhere in the UK or EU, you keep the protection of your local consumer law and courts.
14. Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we'll tell you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Little Plate after that means you accept the new terms.
